The NYU Coalition Against Apartheid organized a student picket of the New York University board of trustees meeting on October 17, 1978, demanding that the university divulge the value of its investments in companies doing business in South Africa. The coalition also sponsored a talk by South African trade-union leader Drake Koka at NYU that month, as part of a tour sponsored by the Committee Against Investments in South Africa (CAISA). NYU was the venue of regional student conferences about anti-apartheid organizing and divestment in November, 1978 and again in October, 1983.
