The Chicago Committee in Solidarity with Southern Africa (CCISSA) was formed about 1987. Most of the members had been active in the Coalition for Illinois’ Divestment from South Africa (CIDSA), an organization that ceased to exist after it achieved its main goals of divestment by the Illinois and the city of Chicago.
