The Chicago Committee for the Liberation of Angola, Mozambique and Guinea-Bissau (CCLAMG) was founded in 1971. CCLAMG worked in collaboration with other groups around the city and country to educate people about the struggle for independence by the Portuguese colonies in Africa. It worked with black and white groups, developed educational materials, hosted liberation leaders when they came to the Chicago area, co-sponsored major conferences and events with speakers and seminars on the movements, participated in protest activities of marching, demonstrating, and boycotting, and attended Gulf Oil stockholders meetings. It held regular meetings and often worked out of the New World Resource Center on Halstead Ave. CCLAMG's name on many documents is Chicago Committee for the Liberation of Angola, Mozambique and Guine. CCLAMG was sometimes called the Chicago Committee for the Liberation of Angola, Mozambique and Guinea. CCLAMG changed its name to Chicago Committee for African Liberation about 1977.
