The Medisch Komitee Angola (MKA, Medical Committee Angola) was formed in 1972 and continued until at least 1994. It was a solidarity organization with the liberation struggle in southern Africa, especially Angola, and concentrating on providing medical support to MPLA and the government of Angola after independence. MKA also provided support to the African National Congress (ANC), mainly a hospital they established in the ANC settlement of Mazimbu in Tanzania. MKA was based in Amsterdam, for most of the time working from the same premises as the Anti-Apartheids Beweging Nederland (AABN, Dutch Anti-Apartheid Movement). MKA published a semiannual magazine from May 1973 to June 1994. (Source: Kier Schuringa, NiZA-BIDOC)
