The South Africa/Namibia Association (SA/NAM Association) was founded in 1986. Located in Brussels, it was concerned with co-coordinating, stimulating and monitoring development projects in South Africa and Namibia, which were initiated by its member organizations. Money for these projects was raised by the member organizations of SA/NAM, mostly European NGO's and anti-apartheid organizations. A list of the member organizations can be found at the end of the Finding Aid. A greater part of the funds were provided by the European Community in the European Special Programme for the Victims of Apartheid (ESP). Most of the development projects in South Africa were conducted by the Kagiso Trust which was founded in 1986 by the South African Council of Churches (SACC) and the South African Bishop Conference (SABC). The projects were mainly in the fields of education, community building and culture. In Namibia the Namibia Development Trust was responsible for the projects. The organization was dissolved in 1993.
