The National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (NAARPR) grew out of a campaign to free Angela Davis but was formed after she was found not guilty. NAARPR was a coalition of organizations and individuals in a number of states and cities that organized people to repeal what it saw as growing repression against leaders and activists in movements for peace, freedom and justice in the U.S. It supported people in the U.S. it viewed as political prisoners. NAARPR was involved in the anti-apartheid movement and supported the African National Congress (ANC) and the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO).
