The Namibia Peace Center was based at St. Augustine by-the-Sea Episcopal Church. Inspired by a visit to their parish by Colin O'Brien Winter, Bishop of Namibia-in-exile, some members of St. Augustine by-the-Sea determined to create a Namibia Peace Center in the U.S. based on an organization of that name established by Bishop Winter in Oxford, UK. The organization later was involved in some anti-apartheid work on South Africa. The Namibia Peace Center worked closely with Episcopal Churchmen or South Africa. The Namibia Peace Center was an organizational participant in the Committee to Oppose Bank Loans to South Africa in 1979.
