The Azania Komitee (Azania Committee) was established in September 1974, was based in Rotterdam and had the aim of supporting the liberation struggle of the people of Azania (South Africa). In practice, this support focused mainly on the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC) and the organizations of the Black Consciousness Movement such as the Azanian People's Organisation (AZAPO). The committee organized numerous support activities, did outreach work and campaigned for political prisoners in South Africa. Also the committee was active at local level in Rotterdam, among others in Rotterdam tegen Apartheid (Rotterdam against Apartheid) and the Rotterdam-Durban campaign. The committee ceased to exist in 1996. (Source: the archive of the Azania Komitee at the International Institute of Social History.)
