Hamiltonians for Divestment (HFD) was a student anti-apartheid organization at Hamilton College that campaigned to get the college to divest from companies doing business in South Africa. On March 13, 1986 78 students of HFD held a sit-in at the Office of Communications and Development for two hours. In November 1986 a Hamilton College student coalition of five groups (The Black Student Alliance, Young Progressive Democrats, the Gay Lesbian Alliance, Women's Center and Hamiltonians for Divestment)occupied the main administration building for two days of protest alleged recurring, sexist and racist statements made by college officials. The Africa Fund archive at the Amistad Research Center in New Orleans includes some photos and possibly other material of the organization.
