The Southern African Liberation Committee (SALC), a student-based group at Cornell University was founded about 1969 or a little earlier. SALC continued at least until the late 1970s and may have continued into the 1980s. SALC raised monies that went to African liberation movements that were actually engaged in armed struggle. SALC worked to get information out about Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, and Namibia. Two Cornell professors were lead members: Rukudzo Murapa of Zimbabwe and Congress Mbata of South Africa.
