Medical-Aid for Southern Africa (MASA) was formed to provide material support in the forms of clothing and medical supplies to the people of South Africa. The purposes of MASA were to raise funds, medical supplies, and clothing to be sent to southern Africa; to educate people in America on why these conditions exist by promoting documentary films about Africa and sponsoring plays, lectures and other programs; to work with the already existing medical agencies such as the Mozambique Institute, Boavida Hospital, S.A.M. (Servecio de Assistencia Medica) and The Friendship Institute; and to campaign against the racist system of apartheid and the Portuguese colonialists in their genocidal programs against the people of southern Africa.
