The Macalester Anti-Apartheid Coalition (MAAC) was a student anti-apartheid group at Macalester College that was formed in November 1978. MAAC worked to convince the Macalester College Board of Trustees to divest from companies doing business in South Africa. MAAC also worked to convince Northwest Bancorporation not to take part in consortia financing loans to South Africa. In October 1979, the Macalester College Board of Trustees adopted a policy of writing to firms to pressure them to change their policy toward South Africa and left open the possibility of divesting from companies that were not responsive. At this point, MAAC continued to rally for a more vigorous divestment policy, but the organization became less active.
