The South African Solidarity Organization (SASO II) was a based at Western Michigan University (WMU). The organization used different names at various times including Kalamazoo Students Against Apartheid, and Ad Hoc Committee on South Africa, and Committee on South Africa but about 1979 became South African Solidarity Organization (SASO II) in recognition of the South African organization of that name which had been banned by the South African government and kept that name as long as it existed. In addition to students, SASO II had faculty members, Don Cooney and Leander Jones. SASO II campaigned to get WMU to divest from companies doing business in South Africa.
