San Francisco, California, United States
April 10, 1977
The Dutch-owned ship, the Nedlloyd Kimberley, was docked at San Francisco Pier 27 with cargo from South Africa. At 7:30 AM, about 500 people formed into a picket line. Some half of the longshore workers, members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU), who were dispatched to unload the ship refused to do so.
