The Constitutional law of the People’s Republic of Angola, (PRA) headed by Dr. Agostinho Neto, is based on the following principles. Article 1 – The People’s Republic of Angola is a sovereign, independent and democratic state, whose first objective is the total liberation of the Angolan people from the vestiges of colonialism and the domination and aggression of imperialism and the construction of a prosperous and democratic country, completely free from any form of man’s exploitation by man, realizing the aspiration of the masses. Article 2 – All sovereignty rests with the Angolan people, but the MPLA – their legitimate representative, composed of a broad front in which all the patriotic forces involved in the anti-imperialist struggle are included – is in charge of the political, economic and social leadership of the nation.
