The Rutgers Coalition for Total Divestment is an ad-hoc network of students, faculty, staff, alumni community and student organizations, who have organized for the purpose of having Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, divest its’ stock holdings in companies that have investments in the Republic of South Africa. The Coalition, formerly founded in 1983, then formally petitioned Rutgers University President Edward J. Bloustein, the University Boards of Trustees and Governors and all other appropriate University officers requesting total divestment. The Coalition, formerly founded in 1983, then formally petitioned Rutgers University President Edward J.
