In November last year, over 1000 people attended a public hearing in which in which over thirty people expressed their demands for divestment. On Friday, April 12, 1985, 500 students rallied against this university’s continued investments in these companies. At 2:30 pm, approximately 200 students blockaded the student center and have remained there ever since with a growing number of sit-ins every day. In a telephone communication at the rally, the Reverend Jesse Jackson declared his support and announced his plans to attend the rally of Tuesday, April 23, 1985.
