Dumisani Kumalo and Nelson Mandela; Kumalo is looking at Mandela with a big smile. Together, they are holding an issue of the "Daily Local News" newspaper. Kumalo was allowed into South Africa in February 1990, soon after Mandela's release from prison. He and Mandela had last seen each other in 1973 when Kumalo went to Robben Island. Kumalo, a journalist, went into exile in 1977 and became a staff member of the American Committee on Africa. Black and white photograph.
