Petition issued as part of a campaign to get First National City Bank to stop making loans to South Africa. The petition states: “The socially and morally abhorrent legislative policy of South African apartheid is directly and indirectly supported by foreign assistance and investments” and “First National City Bank of New York either wittingly or unwittingly continues to be an active supporter of apartheid by carrying on various banking activities in South Africa.” The petition asks that the Board of Missions of the Methodist Church support the Morningside Heights Committee on South Africa. The petition states: “The socially and morally abhorrent legislative policy of South African apartheid is directly and indirectly supported by foreign assistance and investments” and “First National City Bank of New York either wittingly or unwittingly continues to be an active supporter of apartheid by carrying on various banking activities in South Africa.” The petition asks that the Board of Missions of the Methodist Church support the Morningside Heights Committee on South Africa. Also, if the First National City Bank fails to provide written guarantees to the above requests by April 20, 1966, the Board of Missions seek immediate withdrawal of all Methodist monies from First National City Bank accounts.
