Report to the ACOA Board. In January the New World Resource Center celebrated its first anniversary with an international film festival. The Chicago Committee for the Liberation of Angola, Mozambique, and Guine (CCLAMG) showed the film “A Luta Continua” to 20 groups (about 1,000 people) in the Chicago area. Thanks to ACOA Board member George Daniels for sending us 975 copies of “Southern Africa: Time for Change.” The Prisoners Support Group at the Center is corresponding with a growing number of prisoners in many parts of the country. The Southern Africa Task Force of the United Church of Christ (UCC) is planning a city-wide meeting on Corporate Responsibility in Southern Africa. We are also organizing support for the UCC resolution at the Mobil Oil Annual Meeting in Chicago. Africa Research Group (ARG) literature has been moving well, and we have been able to send $600 to the liberation movements (MPLA, FRELIMO, and PAIGC), as agreed to with ARG. CCLAMG is working with the Walk for Development, hoping to interest local Walk groups in Africa Fund projects. The slide show “Partners in Apartheid” (by Southern Africa Committee) has been a valuable resource. The Center distributed literature and showed films at the Canadian African Studies Conference in Ottawa, the Midwest Conference for Relevant Social Change in Chicago, and the International Women’s Day (Chicago).
