An unusual number of African liberation representatives and leaders have come to New York recently, primarily because of the debates during the 27th session of the U.N. General Assembly on African issues. We held meetings with three of these visitors - Amilcar Cabral, Secretary-General of the PAIGC; Marcelino dos Santos, Vice-President of FRELIMO; and Edison Zvobgo and Michael Mawema of the African National Council of Zimbabwe. Other visitors include Peter Katjavivi of SWAPO; Mohamed Sahnoun, Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of African Unity; Jane Ngwenya, leader-in-exile of ZAPU, now in Dar es Salaam; Richard Hove, a ZANU leader from Lusaka; and Charles Kauraisa of SWANU. ACOA continues its long-standing working arrangement with Sharfudine Khan of FRELIMO and the newly-arrived representative of the South African ANC, Thami Mhlambiso. Gil Fernandes will have been here about 2-1/2 months by Christmastime.
