Mailing about recent action the Bay Area Free South Africa Movement (BAFSAM) took to help achieve the goal of making the Port of Oakland free from South African cargo. The mailing says we learned last year that one of this country’s largest chippers, Sea-Land Corporation, was moving cargo between Oakland and South Africa. The mailing says we are enclosing a copy of the April 15, 1987 Sea-Land Corporation letter, along with a number of reports which appeared in local newspapers.
