Round metal button with a color photograph of African National Congress (ANC) leader Nelson Mandela taken after his release from prison. Mandela’s face is on a circle of yellow, green, and black stripes, which appears in the top portion of a continent of Africa that contains the same colors. A black horizontal band appears below this, with text in red. Below is the southern part of the continent in white, with “FREE THE LAND” in red. In the background of the button is a red band and a green band at the top and bottom of the button, respectively. The button was produced for Mandela’s June 1990 tour of the United States and Canada. Size: 2-1/2 inches across.
