Letter to Mrs. Cheryl Johnson about conference committee action on the Export Administration Act soon after Congress reconvenes in January. The House version of the bill contains anti-apartheid language which has been promoted by opponents of apartheid since last Spring. The Gray, Solarz, Berman, and Wolpe measures in HR 3231 would be the first meaningful economic sanctions this country has ever imposed on South Africa. The letter says we need your support in lobbying the conferees before Congress reconvenes.
