New York, New York, United States
April 1988
Initially produced for an April 1988 program with the UAW in New York City to kick off the campaign to free Moses Mayekiso, Secretary General of Metal and Allied Workers Union (Mawu) in South Africa, who had been charged with treason. The button was designed by Josh Brown. The square button includes a drawing of Mayekiso wearing a black shirt on a background of cherry red. "Free" is in white block letters and "Mayekiso" is in red letters that give the appearance of being hand-drawn. Size: 1-1/2 inches across.
