South African Congress of Trade Unions
Undated, most likely 1970s
Button supporting the South African Congress of Trade Unions (SACTU), which was banned during apartheid. On the white, round button is a design built on a checkerboard at a 45-degree angle. On this background, a stylized factory is on the same angle, with yellow windows and yellow smoke coming out of a smokestack. From the base, a red arm rises behind the factory, and the red hand is closed around the smokestack. "SACTU" appears in large red letters.
