San Francisco, California, United States
Fall 1987
A man is signing a petition addressed to the South African government demanding the release of political prisoners. This was part of the "Unlock Apartheid's Jails" campaign organized by the American Committee on Africa. This display, with a poster, petition, and a box for depositing keys, is in a Tower Records store in San Francisco, California. At a press conference in September 1987 in New York, it was announced that Tower Records put up displays for the campaign in about 60 stores across the country.
