This photo shows an event related to the dedication of the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. It was planned that the library would be called the Charles Engelhard Public Affairs Library, recognizing the $1 million donation made by the Charles Engelhard Foundation. Engelhard, an American, was one of the most powerful businessmen in South African gold mining and metals processing. Student organizations protested honoring Engelhard. (Other photos on this website show some of the approximately 400 protesters.)
