Walter and Albertina Sisulu are being shown a T-shirt about South Africa at an event held in their honor in Detroit. The T-shirt was worn by many U.S. activists who were observers at the first democratic election in South Africa in April 1994. The T-shirt says on the front: "U.S.A. NGO Observer Team South African Elections 1994. The T-shirt was created by the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. (The T-shirt can be seen on this website.)
