Black drawing of African National Congress (ANC) leader Nelson Mandela and text on white background. This button was apparently produced in Asmara, Eritrea. At the time it was created, Eritrea was part of Ethiopia and the Eritrean People's Liberation Front was fighting for independence. A button of the same design also was produced on a blue background. Eritrea became independent in 1991.
