New York City Council member Ruth Messinger (center). Behind her is Barbara Barnes. This may have been at a demonstration on October 14, 1987 against Mobil Oil Corporation's support of apartheid organized by the Immobilize Apartheid Coalition (Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR), the American Committee on Africa (ACOA), the New York Southern Africa Solidarity Coalition, the Westchester People's Action Coalition (WESPAC). Mobil was the biggest U.S. company supplying petroleum products and refining oil in South Africa.
