Description

Joshua Nessen of the American Committee on Africa blockading the Park Avenue entrance to Citibank's corporate headquarters. The protest by a student and community coalition was part of a campaign against Citicorp's business ties to apartheid South Africa. The protesters demanded the bank close its branches in South Africa and end all lending to that country. Fourteen people were arrested for blockading the entrance with a shanty.
