Anti-Apartheid Movement
London, United Kingdom
1989
On this white round button, "Save" appears in orange, written vertically, from bottom to top. The other text appears in black, and the number "14" is in white on a black square background. The Upington 14, including a 60-year old woman named Evelyn de Bruin, were sentenced to death on May 26, 1989 because they were present at a demonstration during which a black policeman was killed. The international campaign on their behalf was successful; the sentence was overturned in May 1991.
