London, United Kingdom
July 15, 1973
On July 15, 1973, The Anti-Apartheid Movement (AAM) joined with the Committee for Freedom in Mozambique, Angola and Guinea-Bissau and other groups to protest the visit to London by Portuguese Prime Minister and dictator Marcelo Caetano. More than 12,000 demonstrators marched through central London calling for an end to the "unholy alliance" of Portugal, South Africa, and Britain in Southern Africa. They included trade unionists and a delegation from the Black People's Freedom Movement. This image was provided by the AAM Archives Committee.
