Call to seamen to strengthen the oil embargo against South Africa. The poster features a large black and white photograph of an engine order telegraph (also known as a Chadburn) that is used to give orders from the captain to the engine room to increase or decrease speed or to stop a vessel. The word “STOP” appears in red, along with the rest of the title. The poster asks people who have information to notify the Shipping Research Bureau, the Danish Seamens Union, the National Union of Seaman, The Seamens Union of Australia, or the Transport and General Workers Union. This poster was produced in a number of languages.
In order to ensure the observance of the United Nations' Resolution about boycotting all sailing with oil to South Africa, the organizations below hereby urge seaman of all nations to inform us in cases where you have been engaged on ships violating the UN resolution.
