At the original March on Washington Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his "I have a dream" speech. He was a leading voice is opposing the 1981 U.S. tour of the Springboks, South African rugby team, including working with the Capital District Coalition Against Apartheid and Racism (CD-CAAR), helping to organization the Stop the Apartheid Rugby Tour coalition and introduced a resolution to Albany's Common Council in an attempt to stop a game in Albany.
