Japhet Zwana, a member of the Steering Committee of the Capital District Coalition Against Apartheid and Racism (CD-CAAR), by a shanty on the grounds of the State Capitol to protest against the refusal of State Comptroller Edward Regan and the State Senate to divest the state pension fund from companies doing business in South Africa. The shantytown was part of a demonstration that joint student and community collaboration including students from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and CD-CAAR.
