The Africa Fund; Clive Helfet
New York, New York, United States
1990
This square button was produced after the release of Nelson Mandela shortly before his first visit to the United States in June 1990. The slogan was used nationally during and after his visit. The words on the button are in yellow, green, red, and white on a black background. In the word "ON", the "O" is a red circle with a black African continent inside, and the "N" has a black circle with fine lines that intersect the circle vertically and horizontally, so the letter appears to have a target on it. The designer, Clive Helfet, was using the nom de guerre of Kaptein Kuns at that time. The button was manufactured by Donnelly/Colt, Box 188, Hampton, CT 06247. Size: 1-1/2 inches across.
