Frank Barbaro, a member of the New York State Assembly, speaking in support of divestment with anti-apartheid demonstrators on the grounds of the State Capital at a protest against the refusal of State Comptroller Edward Regan and the State Senate to divest the state pension fund from companies doing business in South Africa. The demonstrators built a shantytown as part of the protest. The protest was a joint student and community collaboration including students from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and the Capital District Coalition Against Apartheid and Racism.
