South Africa
About 1986
Photograph of a torture victim in South Africa. The photograph clearly shows how the man depicted was beaten. The photograph is one of many obtained Don Stillman, Director of Governmental and International Affairs at the United Auto Workers (UAW), on a trip to South Africa most likely in April 1986. This and the other photographs were used to lobby members of Congress against apartheid and press them to impose sanctions on South Africa.
