Taken during a sit-in and hunger strike that began on April 17, 1980
Anita Brooks (left) and another member of Williams Anti-Apartheid Coalition during a sit-in at the Williams College Administration Building that was part of a campaign to get the college to divest from companies doing business in South Africa and from Newmont Mining Corporation which had extensive operations in Namibia. Brooks and one other student started a hunger strike at the same time. The action coincided with a Trustee meeting on campus.
