Picket signs were placed by members of the Southern Africa Liberation Committee around the Austin Blair statue in front of the state Capitol building in Lansing, Michigan. This action was taken in support of legislation being considered to divest holdings of the Michigan public employees' pension funds from companies operating in South Africa. This legislation was adopted.
