About 1965
In September 1965, Wendell Foster became Associate Director of the American Committee on Africa (ACOA). He had been involved with ACOA for many years, serving as Tour Leader on both the 1964 and 1965 ACOA Summer Trips to Africa. Foster and Mary-Louise Hooper were coordinators of the Committee of Conscience Against Apartheid, initiated by ACOA and the University Christian Movement. The Committee of Conscience Against Apartheid campaigned against loans to South Africa by Chase Manhattan Bank and First National City Bank.
