On March 21, 1974 the ship the African Sun arrived at Packer Marine Terminal carrying goods from Rhodesia (Zimbabwe). The goods were being imported to the United States in violation of mandatory United Nations sanctions against Rhodesia. The Coalition to Stop Rhodesian Imports organized a picket at the dock. One crew of longshoremen finally agreed to load cargo on the boat, but refused to unload the Rhodesian cargo. The Sun left without being unloaded. This photograph may be from March 21 or March 22.
