William H. Booth served as President of the American Committee on Africa (ACOA) from about 1972 to March 1985. In 1971, prior to joining the board of the ACOA, he visited South Africa as an observer for the American Protestant Episcopal Church at the trial of the Anglican Dean of Johannesburg, the Very Reverend Gonville A. ffrench-Beytagh.
