East Lansing, Michigan, United States
Early 1986
Members and supporters of the Southern Africa Liberation Committee (SALC) standing in front of the Hannah Administration Building on the Michigan State University (MSU) campus. They were protesting the MSU Foundation's investments in companies operating in South Africa. This was the second divestment campaign on campus, after MSU itself divested in 1978. The two people at the right of the photo are Debby Miller, who was president of SALC at the time, and Kgati Sathekge, a South African member of the African National Congress who was a student at MSU and organized in Michigan in the anti-apartheid movement.
