Clergy and Laity Concerned
New York, New York, United States
Undated, late 1970s, 1979?
The symbol on this yellow T-shirt was the logo of the national Campaign to Oppose Bank Loans to South Africa (COBLSA), in which Clergy and Laity Concerned (CALC) participated. It was widely used by both the national campaign and local groups. The hand-drawn design is of a black man behind prison bars, one of which he is clutching onto. An “S” appears around three of the bars, creating a dollar sign. The name of the group forms a circle around this image.
