South African Congress of Trade Unions Solidarity Committee
Toronto, Canada
1986 or later
The yellow T-shirt has a drawing of a black male shirtless worker wearing a helmet, with his arms folded in from of him. Costs of producing the shirts were often borne by supporting union organizations, and many hundreds of them were sold to members of the Canadian labor movement. Part of the proceeds went to support the work of the South African Congress of Trade Unions Solidarity Committee (SSC) and to the official representative of South African Congress of Trade Unions (SACTU) in Canada. The shirt label reads "ILGWU Canada CLC union label." ILGWU is the former union, the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union in the U.S. and Canada.
