Demonstration in front of the South African Consulate on Madison Avenue. The purpose of the demonstration was to bring to the attention of the press public support in the United States for those convicted of treason in the Rivonia Trial. In June 1964, eight people charged in that trial were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment, including Nelson Mandela, Walter Sisulu, Govan Mbeki, Raymond Mhlaba, Elias Motsoaledi, Ahmed Kathrada, Denis Goldberg and Andrew Mlangeni. George M. Houser, Executive Director of the American Committee on Africa, is giving an interview to a reporter from ABC.
