The poster features a black and white design with three components: three white men in white robes and caps each hold up a black baton, ready to strike three Black children in white T-shirts, with their hands on the ground. Behind the children is a row of three menacing black dogs with their mouths open. The logo of UNESCO appears at the top of the poster. Translation to English: “1978 International Year Against Apartheid.” Poster produced for the International Anti-Apartheid Year which began on March 21, 1978, the anniversary of the 1960 Sharpeville massacre. This commemoration was proclaimed in United Nations General Assembly resolution 32/105B adopted on December 14, 1977.
